The Beginning of Flux88
"We didn't start Flux88 to be another agency. We started it because we knew there was a better way to build."
This is the first entry in what I'm calling The Flux Blog — part diary, part manifesto, part proof of work.
Flux88 was born from conviction. Not the kind that fades — the kind that builds. We saw an industry full of noise and not enough craft. We saw brilliant engineers scattered across the globe, underutilized. We said: we can do this differently.
The Name
The name Flux88 is a nod to the flux capacitor — the fictional device that made time travel possible in Back to the Future. It was an impossible idea that changed everything. That's the energy we bring to every project. Like Doc Brown tinkering in his garage for years before the DeLorean finally hit 88 miles per hour, we spent years cultivating relationships, testing partnerships, and learning who we could trust with the kind of work our clients deserve.
We wanted a name that captured both the technical precision and the creative audacity of what we do. "Flux" represents constant transformation — the iterative nature of great software. "88" is the speed at which the impossible becomes possible.
Why Now
The timing wasn't accidental. We're at an inflection point in software development. AI is fundamentally changing what's possible, and the studios that understand how to build with it — not just bolt it on — will define the next decade of digital products.
We've spent the last 10+ years building relationships with some of the most talented engineers, designers, and product thinkers on the planet. These aren't contractors we found last week. These are people we've shipped products with, solved impossible problems with, and built real trust with — over years, not weeks.
What We Believe
Every product we build starts with a conversation, not a contract. We listen first. We ask hard questions. We push back when something doesn't make sense. And then we build something that actually matters.
We believe in craft over speed, transparency over politics, and outcomes over outputs. We believe the best engineering comes from small, focused teams of senior people who care deeply about what they're building. And we believe that the most important metric isn't lines of code shipped — it's whether the product actually solves the problem it was built to solve.
What's Next
We're just getting started. We have six core services that we do exceptionally well, multiple products in active development, and a growing roster of clients who share our conviction that software should be built with intention. The projects featured on our site are just a snapshot — over the past decade, we've shipped dozens of products across industries.
This blog will be our public notebook — honest reflections on building a studio, shipping products, and navigating the AI era. No fluff, no thought leadership for the sake of it. Just real dispatches from the build.
Welcome to Flux88. Let's build something real.
